Vinted Users Express Frustration Regarding Size Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.
The popular resale platform has updated its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel failing to inform all users about the change.
Digital Channels Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers are posting online saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
The company said the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
They have suggested members to review their products and adjust the sizing manually when needed, resulting in member annoyance.
Measurement Approach Updates
Previously, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Member Accounts
A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Another user, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.
Manual Updates
Another shopper, from Derby, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Service Background
The platform boasts over 100 million users, with 18 million British users.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: earlier, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
